    Join us for our special family-friendly New Year’s Eve Celebration and ring in the New Year before bedtime! Enjoy “countdowns to midnight” at 10:30am during the morning event (9–11:30am) or at 2pm during the afternoon event (12:30–3pm)—we’ll lower our glittery disco ball, confetti will fly through the air, and wish blimps made by visitors will gently fall to the ground. Visitors can make sparkly recycled-paper hats throughout the event and enjoy a fun New Year backdrop! CMNH’s New Year’s Eve Celebration is a special ticketed event with prices different from our regular museum admission. Reservations and prepayment required. The Museum closes early at 3pm on New Years Eve and will be closed on New Year’s Day. Members $7/person; Non-members $15/person; Children under 12 months are free; EBT/WIC cardholders and up to 6 dependent children are $4/person (must present EBT or WIC card upon arrival).  Learn More

Families have access to a private classroom area for food and cake, along with complete access to the museum's exhibits. The museum is closed to the public during birthday parties, however parties are at the same time and are NOT private. If you want a private party, you must book both party times. Parents are expected to stay with their children while playing in the museum, and help them follow museum rules. Children may not be left unattended at any time. Online booking required.     Featured Exploring Our Way: Sensory Friendly Playtime

    For some children, a museum visit is challenging and over-stimulating. The Exploring Our Way: Sensory Friendly playtimes are exclusive to families of children with special needs. These reduced admission, low-sensory events are designed for children with autism spectrum or sensory processing disorders to explore the Museum along with their families without the noise, crowds, and stimulation of a typical day. The museum is closed to the public during Exploring Our Way playtimes. We limit attendance, turn down sounds and lights, provide a quiet zone with sensory activities, and have noise-canceling headphones to borrow. A medical diagnosis is not required.
