The Children’s Museum of NH does not have it’s own designated parking lot. While the museum’s physical address is 6 Washington Street, city metered spots are available on adjacent streets. Henry Law Ave is where visitors would normally park, but during this road work, we ask you to use the 45 Orchard Street Garage instead.

Phase 1 of Construction Along Henry Law Ave

August 3, 2026 – Approx. February 2027

Parking all along Henry Law Ave will be closed. During phase 1, the Pool/Playground parking lot (9 Henry Law Ave) directly behind the museum will be open with limited spots and can be reached by taking Hanson or Payne Street to lower Henry Law Ave, which will be temporarily open to two-way traffic.

Phase 2 of Construction Along Henry Law Ave

Approx. February 2027 – Approx. December 2027

Parking all along Henry Law Ave will be closed. During phase 2, the Pool/Playground parking lot (9 Henry Law Ave) along the river directly behind the museum will be open with limited spots and can be reached by upper Henry Law Ave, which will be temporarily open to two-way traffic.

PARKING DETAILS

• All Dover public parking can be paid for using the ParkMobile app on your smartphone, or through meters located along many streets and on the ground level of the parking garage. For either option, you will need to know your license plate number.
• Progressive pricing street parking is in effect Monday through Saturday, 9am–8pm and is free on Sundays and holidays. Progressive pricing parking in the garage is in effect 24/7, including holidays.
• Handicapped parking is free for three hours per day. Longer stays require paid parking through the meter or the ParkMobile app.

PARKING OPTIONS

45 Orchard Street Garage

• Spaces 101–278 on floors 1 and 2.
• Handicapped parking is available on the 1st floor.
• A short 5-minute walk to the museum: from the elevator, take a right, walk along Orchard Street, cross over to Henry Law Park at the intersection, and walk through the park to the museum’s entrance (look for the Big Blue Crab statue!).

On-street Parking (Washington Street and beyond)

• Dover is a very walkable town, and most downtown on-street parking spots are no more than a 10-minute walk to the museum.
• The most convenient spaces will be along Washington Street, as well as along part of Main Street (where it curves off from Washington to the left).
• The closest handicapped parking to the museum entrance is available along Washington Street.

Pool Lot Parking

• Limited spaces will be available and can be reached either by lower Henry Law Ave via Hanson Street or Payne Street (during Phase 1 of construction) or upper Henry Law Ave (during Phase 2). Please note that Williams Street will be closed.
• To find the museum’s entrance, go up the stairs to the left of the pool’s doors, or follow the sidewalk around the playground and up towards Washington Street/upper Henry Law Park.
• Please note that Williams Street will be closed to through traffic during construction.
