The museum is closed to the public during Birthday Parties. However, two parties are scheduled at the same time. If you want a private party, you must purchase both party slots.

Birthday Party FAQs

PARTY TIMES

Please do not arrive before your party start time, as we will not be able to let you into the museum.

Fridays & Saturdays:
2 party slots available, both 4:30–6:30pm.

Sundays:
2 party slots available, both 1–3pm.

 

PARTIES INCLUDE:

  • 2 hours of fun for up to 40 people
  • Full use of museum indoor exhibits
  • Art activities in our Muse Studio
  • Access to a private party room

Please note, the museum floor closes 30 minutes prior to the end of the party. Guests will spend the remainder of the party time celebrating in a private party room, where they will be able to enjoy snacks or open presents!

Party Rules

By booking a Birthday Party, you and your guests agree to follow all museum rules. Adults are expected to stay with their children at all times to help them follow museum rules.

  • Birthday Parties are limited to 40 guests—this includes the party family, as well as ALL adults and children who come to your party. Please do not exceed this limit. Your guests will be asked to sign in with CMNH staff upon arrival.
  • Our party rooms are already festive and colorful. Only table top decorations are allowed.  Balloons and piñatas are NOT allowed, nor is anything with confetti or glitter. Nothing may be taped or pinned to the party wall, including Happy Birthday banners. 
  • The outdoor Play Patio is not open during Birthday Parties.
  • All food or drink must be kept and consumed inside the private party room. Alcohol is not permitted.
  • Children may not be left unattended anywhere in the museum.

Reservations

  • Birthday Parties are available to book online. If you see that a date is not available, it is booked.
  • When you book, you will be required to pay in full. To receive your $20 member discount, register for our ticketing site (if you haven’t done so already), and sign in before making your reservation.

Cancellations

If you need to cancel your Birthday Party:

  • Notify us at least 14 days before your event to receive a refund, minus a $100 cancellation fee.
  • If you cancel without providing timely notice, we can help you reschedule for another day, but refunds will not be available.
