“Ocean Adventures” Performance with the Portsmouth Symphony Principal Winds
Saturday, January 11 at 2pm >>
Come play at the Museum on Saturday, January 11 from 1-4pm and catch a special performance by the principal wind players in the Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra at 2pm! The group, who have performed together for 6 years across New England, will play their “Ocean Adventures” show, taking visitors on a journey across the sea with classic songs such as Malcom Arnold’s Sea Shanties, and Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Sea Songs. Your kids will recognize pop culture favorites from The Little Mermaid and Pirates of the Caribbean.
Kids voted on three options for a special theme day here at the museum and “Ocean Day” won the popular vote! Friday, January 10th will be the official theme day, but crafts and activities will extend all weekend.
This performance is included with museum admission (free for Members) thanks to the generous sponsorship by The Fuller Foundation, TD Charitable Foundation, Abbie F. Moseley Charitable Trust, and the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.
Special Guest: “Stories on the Wind” with Kemp Harris

Come play at the Museum on Saturday, February 1st during the afternoon play session (1-4pm) and catch a special performance by guest artist Kemp Harris. His repertoire includes African folk tales, original stories, and familiar adventures from children’s literature. Kemp’s immersive performances incorporate music, theatrical movement and expression, and heavy audience participation: essential tools in the oral tradition of “telling." Drawing on his 40 years of elementary school teaching experience, Harris’s “Stories on the Wind” program is sure to delight audiences of all ages.
